David Paynter

Sculptor / Poet

After a successful business career building his own design and marketing consultancy, David decided to retire early to spend more time in a purely creative role. A course at Schumacher College in Dartington inspired him to rekindle his early passion for art in all forms. He now enjoys painting, life drawing and sculpting, mainly in stone and bronze. With each stone carving comes a poem. David is a member of Guildford Arts and Deputy Chair of Surrey Sculpture Society. His work is regularly exhibited in the Home Counties, in Devon and Cornwall and is in private collections around the UK.

Helen Pittick

Sculptor

A sculptor specialising in equestrian studies and animals. 'In every sculpture I try to show the character of the animal and capture it's spirit. I love to study the flow of the animal's movement and translate this into my work'. Helen takes a huge amount of inspiration from her love of the dressage horse, such grace, power and beauty being shown in the most obedient way. Helen's work is started in clay or wax, when she is happy with the piece, moulds are taken and casts are produced in either Bronze or Bronze resin.

Jacqueline Darnell

Sculptor / Painter

My work is about movement, texture, colour and capturing the spontaneity of a moment in time. Much of my inspiration comes on my travels. I believe it is important to capture the mood, form, and character of each subject, whether it be landscapes, people or animals. I feel I can best achieve this by observation. I interpret the world from different perspectives - sketching the coastal landscape from my kayak or diving with my waterproof sketchpad to observe life beneath the waves. Jacqui works in a variety of media including Jesmonite, oils, acrylics and recycled materials.

Jake Mee

Glassblower

Nature is my primary muse. My aim is to communicate the fragility of beauty and nature ensuring that the same qualities are present in my glass. My glass is about form and colour, the cutting and polishing of my work being a primary focal point in my final pieces. Smooth lines and curves with contrasting sharp edges enable me to achieve my objectives. Stand-alone pieces develop in to groups of contrasting form and colour and by taking on the entire process of the creations myself I ensure that my work has an artistic integrity that reflects my true inspiration.

Juliet Scott

Sculptor

I like to use elegant lines and curves to capture elements from observations of everyday life. Whether the subject is figure, animal or abstract, I aim to create a piece of art to enjoy. I work mainly in clay, producing original pieces in limited editions. These are moulded and can be cast in various resins, or can be cast in foundry bronze. Pieces vary from small intimate sculptures to larger, more powerful works suitable for indoor or out.

Carol Orwin SWA SSS

Sculptor

I am passionately interested in the muscular form, movement, and power of the animals that I model. I aim to catch their vitality, nature and personality without compromising the anatomical integrity of the sculpture. I model in clay after meticulous research and observation of the subject. Wherever possible, I study the animals directly and try to interpret their actions. I make my own limited edition silicone rubber moulds, casting them in Bronze, Copper, Iron or Marble resin to produce an attractive choice of finishes. When commissioned I have work cast in Foundry bronze.
