JoJo Rowley

Ceramicist

JoJo works primarily with porcelain for its smoothness of texture and purity of colour. She will often leave the outer surface of the piece unglazed allowing the user to connect with the clay. Her thrown, functional ceramics are either decorated with a single striking glaze, chosen to contrast with the smooth creamy unglazed outer surface. Or alternatively she will carefully perforate the clay surface creating visually light forms that cast delightful shadows. Her aim is to create friendly, feminine work with a strong attention to functionality and form.

Mary Kaun-English BA (hons), SSS

Ceramic Sculptor

Mary's recent work includes hand built clay vessels and sculptures which are influeneced by the ancient North American Indians, her biological forefathers. The second firing of these pieces occurs in an open fire ; more frequently happening on the Cornish shore line. Exposing the porus clay to the smoke given off by the organic materials used to fuel the fire. The results are organic vessels and sculptures painted by nature herself.

Barbara Marshfield

Sculptor

I sculpt in various media. Currently I have two strands to my work. I am carving a series of stone heads influenced by African and particularly Egyptian portraits. The second set is a collection of abstract sculptures which are weighted to sit free from any base and gently rock or spin when touched. Most of the sculptures are suitable for siting outdoors. For the Open Studios event I have produced a number of small pieces which can be handled by visitors and sit well on a desk top.

Claudia Stendel

Mixed Media Artist

I work in a variety of mediums including painting and printmaking, allowing chance and coincidence to become a big part in the process. My artistic inspiration comes from nature and everyday objects. Often focussing on the quirky aspects of the ordinary, my aim is to create beautiful works with poetic ambiguity to celebrate life. Colour and texture are vital to me. So is the urge to keep the fluidity and immediacy of free expression - moments in time reworked by the artist. I have a studio in Chertsey and exhibit regularly across Surrey and South London.
